Tradition meets innovation

Ronacher

Opened in 1872 as "Vienna City Theatre", the Ronacher has experienced a varied history – from a popular variety theatre to a temporary venue for the Burgtheater as well as an ORF studio. In 1987 the Vereinigten Bühnen Wien took over the house. After extensive renovations, it has been shining since 2008 as a modern venue for major musical productions, delighting audiences every evening with international success-shows as well as VBW's own hit-productions.

Raimund Theatre

Opened in 1893 as a suburban theater and speaking stage for the general public, the Raimund Theater soon developed into a popular operetta venue with an international reputation. With its incorporation into the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien in 1987, it rose to become the premier address for major musical productions. Since then, the repertoire has been characterized by a balanced mix of well-known musical hits and VBW in-house productions.

Tradition meets modernity

Theater an der Wien

Built in 1801 by Emanuel Schikaneder, the Theater an der Wien experienced a series of historic premieres, including Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio. After decades as an operetta house, it served as a successful musical theatre stage from 1965 onwards. In 2006, it was reopened as the new opera house of the city of Vienna. Since then, under seasonal operation, music theater from baroque opera to modern works has been showcased with one premiere per month.

Intimate musical theatre & promoting young talent

Kammeroper

From 1961 to 2026, the Kammeroper at the Hotel Post was a venue for artistic encounters and diverse discoveries in musical theatre. Innovative productions and daring programmes were received here with great enthusiasm by the audience. For generations of emerging artists, the venue served as a unique springboard onto the international opera scene. As the operator of the Kammeroper since 2012, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien are temporarily withdrawing from this second venue of the MusikTheater an der Wien at the end of the 2025/26 season due to budget cuts. Consequently, the CAMPUS project, which was specifically initiated for the Kammeroper, cannot be continued until further notice. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has actively supported the theatre’s operations, as well as to the audience who have remained loyal to the Kammeroper over many years.
